MANCHESTER, ENGLAND, October 26, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- The UK's largest credit card provider, MBNA, has teamed up with newspaper The Manchester Evening News in a search for the North West's biggest footie fan. The MBNA North West Super Fan 2010 title and prize will be awarded to the most thoroughly devoted football fan who travels the length and breadth of the country with their team, come rain or shine.
Officials from both the M.E.N. and the Chester-based credit card company are leading the search for the region's top fan and have strict guidelines to follow. The judges of the competition will look for someone who follows the team home and away, maybe lives by superstitious ritual or perhaps proudly sports a tattoo of the club. Fans are invited to nominate themselves and friends for the title which will be handed out in October.
Speaking about the night, Katherine Swift, organiser of the MBNA North West Football Awards, said: "The North West's fans are some of the best in the world and we're looking forward to hearing all about the lengths people go to for their team. We want to hear about the trips up and down the motorway, naming children after your idols or anything else weird and wonderful."
The winner of the title has even more to look forward to as he or she will then be entered into hat for the regional title, which will be announced at this year's MBNA North West Football Awards 2010. The overall winner and will receive a cash prize equivalent to the cost of their team's season ticket, all provided by MBNA.
The credit card provider is no stranger to supporting good causes with MBNA credit cards available that donate to the National Trust, Breast Cancer Awareness and the WWF. The lender also sponsors a variety of community schemes and events across the country including music festivals and sports events. The winner of the coveted title of The MBNA North West Super Fan 2010 will not only receive a prize but also get the ticket to one of the glitziest events in Manchester. The Super Fan will be invited to the North West Football Awards, held at the Lancashire County Cricket Club and receive a whole host of signed merchandise.
As well as getting their hands on goodies and champagne, MBNA has also ensured the event will be attended by a raft of football players from all the leagues including the Premiership and Blue Square Conference. (MBNA has many football branded credit cards to show your support for your team).
