    PRAGUE, CZECH REPUBLIC, October 28, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- A major celebration of alternative and experimental music is set to take place in Prague next month.

Organised by the Czech capital's Unijazz organisation, the Festival Alternativa showcases the underground and avant-garde fringes of rock, jazz, classical and electronic sounds.

The festival has been going since 1993 and this year's event is due to run between November 20th and 27th.

According to the organisers, guests of Prague hotels and other people heading to Alternativa will have an opportunity to discover music from "minority genres" that do not cater to the mainstream.

As well as the leading alternative acts from the domestic music scene, the festival provides a platform for international bands and soloists.

"The majority of groups performing at the festival are among the world's best," the Unijazz website adds.

Performers due to appear in Prague next month include Australian multi-instrumentalist Adam Simmons, American composer Elliott Sharp, German group Hands Up - Excitement and the Czech Republic's Milos Dvoracek.

Several venues are set to host the Alternativa concerts over the week, including Kastan and the Archa Theatre.

Tickets will go on sale from November 1st, with different prices for each performance.
