PHILADELPHIA, PA, October 27, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Melissa Barlow Stratts, Senior Vice President at Towers Watson within the Reinsurance Practice in the Philadelphia office, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for demonstrating dedication, leadership and excellence in casualty and property reinsurance.
In addition to handling several casualty treaty and program placements, Melissa Stratts concentrates on client needs and the firm's alignment of integrated service offerings for customer market advantage. Melissa is also the North American Reinsurance Market Manager.
Melissa joined Towers Perrin Reinsurance in April of 2000 with a focus on enhancing the strategic alliances with treaty clients by serving both domestic and international casualty facultative placements. In 2002 she was designated the Casualty Facultative Practice Leader in Philadelphia. She was nominated to be a Principal of the firm in 2003.
Melissa began her career with Chubb Insurance Company in the Commercial Casualty Umbrella Division in 1988. After several years of underwriting commercial umbrella with Chubb, she was promoted to Chubb Custom Market E&S. Melissa entered the casualty facultative and program reinsurance arena with Munich American Re in Philadelphia. Here, she continued expanding her knowledge of casualty program and individual risk facultative business with both Mutual and Stock companies. In 1996, she played an integral role in the start up of the Midwest Casualty Office of TIG Reinsurance in Chicago, IL. Prior to joining Towers Perrin, Melissa worked with Gerling Global Reinsurance in San Francisco, CA, as a Casualty Facultative Underwriter. Melissa held AVP positions with both TIG Re and Gerling Global Re.
Melissa obtained her B.A. in Economics from the College of William and Mary in Virginia which included studies at Christ College, Cambridge University, England. She is a member of the Association of Professional Insurance Women.
