LONDON, ENGLAND, November 06, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Sitting your driving test can be one of the most nerve wracking experiences you will face. It can also be one of the most liberating too, as, once you pass, you are able to take to the road, and enjoy the freedom of not having to have someone accompany you!
Here are a few tips from car insurance specialist Quinn Direct to help calm your nerves and get you ready to pass your test - hopefully the first time!
1. Practice manoeuvres such as three point turns, reversing, and parallel parking and on the day of the test, try and book in some practice time with your instructor beforehand.
2. Probably the most important thing is to feel confident. You have had the lessons and your driving instructor would not let you put in for your test if he or she felt you weren't ready. So trust in their decision. Again, feel confident when asked to carry out any manoeuvre. You will have practiced them, so don't seize up.
3. Similarly, if during the test you make a mistake then don't assume this means you have failed. Feel confident and carry on. So, for example, if you stall the car, again try not to worry, just aim to get back in to control of the situation quickly and efficiently - and without panicking. Stalling happens, even to experienced drivers!
4. If you feel worried about the ten-minute independent driving element of the test which has been recently introduced, do note that taking a wrong turn or going off the route during this section of the test does not mean that you will automatically fail. You are also allowed to ask the instructor for prompts or reminders as to where you are headed.
So, good luck! And even if you don't pass this time, it doesn't mean that you cannot start building up your no claims bonus on a car insurance policy anyway.
At Quinn-direct Insurance, even Provisional Licence holders can start to build their no claims discount, so you don't have to wait until you've passed your test. Regardless of which licence type you hold and as long as the car insurance cover is in your name, you can start to earn a no claims bonus straight away. A named driver discount is also available if you have been a named driver on someone else's car insurance policy, and, again, this is available to both provisional and full licence holders.
