OKLAHOMA CITY, OK, November 11, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Joe Angel Pizzini, a retired Meteorological Technician for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, has been named Cambridge Who's Who Professional of the Year in Weather Forecasting. While inclusion in Cambridge Who's Who Registry is an honor, only two male and two female members in each discipline are named the Cambridge Who's Who Professional of the Year. The Cambridge Who's Who selection committee chooses these special honorees based on their professional accomplishments, academic achievements, and leadership abilities.

Before retiring, Joe Angel Pizzini served as a meteorological technician for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, a meteorological agency that provides weather observations for the public. Mr. Pizzini's aggressiveness and thoroughness in his work accomplishments separated him from his peers. He coordinated with the National Weather Service, briefed pilots, forecasted the weather, and sent weather reports to local television stations. He was recognized by the National Weather Service for 42 years of service and named the seventh weather senior commissioned officer in 1972. Previously, he worked for the United States Air Force (1954-1972) and the 14th Infantry Battalion of the United States Marine Corps Reserve (1949-1952).

When he was called to active duty in August 1950, he was assigned as a forward observer and wireman before attaining the rank of sergeant. He participated in the capture of Seoul and the arduous Battle of Chosin Reservoir before receiving an honorable discharge. Awarded the Korean Presidential United Citation and the Korean Service Medal with one silver star, he belongs to the Korean War Veteran's Association. The United States Navy presented him with the Commendation Medal with Combat 'V' for Valor. He was also honored with a National Defense Service Medal, a United Nations Service Medal, a Presidential Unit Citation with two bronze stars and a certificate of participation for his work with the atomic bomb test at Bikini Atoll. His motto is: "Always be faithful in all that you do." He attributes his success to his communication skills and friendly nature.

Though his experiences working for the government afforded him insights into different organizations, Mr. Pizzini remains resolute in his stance that his position did not change his political views, despite being "privy to inside information." He was initially enticed to work in the government sector because of the security of benefits. Unfortunately, these benefits are now decreasing and do not apply to recent veterans. Consequently, he fiercely promotes respect for veterans and urges the government to take care of those that "put themselves in harm's way protecting our country."
