About THINK Together
THINK Together got its start in Costa Mesa, CA, in 1994 following a neighborhood gang shooting. Parents and community leaders came together to found the Shalimar Learning and Teen Centers, a safe place for kids to go and continue learning in the hours after the traditional school day. THINK Together was incorporated as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit in 1997. Today THINK Together has grown to be one of the leading and largest U.S. providers of extended learning programs (early literacy, after-school, small group tutoring, summer learning, etc.), serving 70,000 at-risk students each year at 225+ schools and community sites across a five-county footprint of Southern California (Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino and San Diego). Collaborating with school administrators and teachers throughout Southern California, its award winning academically oriented programs and dedicated team are helping at-risk students close the achievement gap.
