PARIS, FRANCE, November 18, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- An exploration of art from the 18th century is on display at Paris's Le Louvre entitled Antiquity Rediscovered.
The collection will be unveiled to the public at the prestigious French venue on December 2nd 2010 and will be available to view until February 14th 2011.
Art enthusiasts staying at Paris hotels can discover the subtleties of the era through 150 works of art by painters, sculptors and other creators from the time.
Some of the most important figures of the 18th century were people like Mengs, Bouchardon and Piranesi, who all showed the same streak of innovation and emulation of the classical style.
The venue explained there were various movements and counter-movements relating to this issue during the era.
"Newly excavated archaeological vestiges in the 1720s to 1730s fuelled debate in European academies and intellectual circles. All artistic fields were caught up in the dream of renewal through the classical," it added.
Travellers will be treated to a wide variety of artwork from the era and will no doubt leave the exhibition with a much broader knowledge of how the century fitted into the history of art.
Admission to this temporary show costs EUR11 (GBP9.30), with the collection found in the Napoleon Hall.
Opening hours are from 09:00 to 18:00 local time every day except Tuesday, when the building is closed, with the complex shutting at the later time of 22:00 on Wednesdays and Fridays.
Attendees can also view the institution's Paper Museums exhibition if they arrive by January 3rd.
