SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA, November 19, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Theatregoers will be sure to enjoy The Diary of a Madman when it reopens in Sydney for its latest run.
The show, which was created by Neil Armfield and Geoffrey Rush more than two decades ago, will be staged at the Belvoir Street Theatre from December 4th 2010 to February 6th 2011.
Described by the venue as a "landmark piece of Australian theatre", the production is an adaptation of a classic work by Russian author Nikolai Gogol charting the life of lowly clerk Poprishchin.
Little more than a human photocopier, Poprishchin's job involves him copying the contents of one page on to another, day after day, along with millions of other workers in his position.
However, the central character's ambition means he stands out from his counterparts, making for a show that "burrows into our wildest fantasies and finds wonderful play in the gap between who we are and who we think we are".
Culture vultures who have booked Sydney hotel deals and are keen to watch the show can book seats for A$57, although they should move fast if they wish to do so as some performances are already sold out.
Ticketholders should make their way to the theatre for 20:00 local time on each night.
For more information, visit the Belvoir Street Theatre website or contact the venue on (+61) 2 9699 3444.
