CORNWALL, ENGLAND, November 23, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- A festive event at one of Cornwall's most famous historic buildings should get holidaymakers in the Christmas spirit next month.
Pendennis Castle near Falmouth is set to open its doors for a carol concert on Sunday December 12th, with tickets priced at GBP6 for adults and GBP3 for children aged five to 15.
As well as plenty of seasonal music, Carols at the Castle will offer festive activities for youngsters in the Barrack Block, where they can enjoy making Christmas crafts to take home.
Tickets can be purchased on site and the event is due to run between 13:00 and 16:00 GMT.
Originally constructed between 1540 and 1545, Pendennis Castle is now in the care of English Heritage and attracts many visitors from the luxury hotels Cornwall has to offer each year.
The structure is one of the Device Forts - a series of fortifications built on the orders of Henry VIII to protect the southern coast of England against foreign invaders.
A larger defensive rampart was added during Elizabeth I's reign and the castle withstood a five-month siege during the English Civil War, when it was the last royalist stronghold in the west of the country.
Visitors to Pendennis can explore the castle's fascinating history through interactive exhibitions and displays such as the recreated Tudor gun room.
