Heading to the New Year's Eve party will give festive holidaymakers a chance to see one of Berlin's finest public squares at its best.

The Gendermanmarkt is home to an iconic trio of the city's architectural gems - the Konzerthaus and the French and German Cathedrals.

Created at the end of the 17th century, the square is known for its lively Christmas market but remains a popular spot among travellers and local people all year round.

The French Cathedral - known as the Franzosischer Dom - is the older of the two cathedrals and was built between 1701 and 1705.
