He has played organ recitals in a variety of churches, including the National Cathedral in Washington, DC. He has been the University Organist at Wake Forest University since 1978. Dr. Armitage has also been active as a conference planner, director and clinician. He attributes his career accomplishments to a great love of his profession, hard work, the help and enthusiasm of friends and colleagues, and the constant support of Mary, his wife and best friend.
