MONROE, MI, December 18, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Is the Bible filled with scientific and historical errors? Does it repeatedly contradict itself? Indeed, was it written by "pious frauds" centuries after the fact?
A new book says the answers are "No", "No", and "No".
In his latest book, "No Errors in My Bible, Sorry About Yours", software engineer Mark Johansen takes on, point by point, over 90 claimed errors and contradictions in the Bible. The author applies the same rigorous logic to the Bible that he does to computer projects. He presents detailed rebuttals to each criticism, drawing on sources ranging from the writings of ancient historians to modern science and even a little math. "But don't let the math and science scare you," he says. "I try to explain it all at simple, every-day level." He does admit that the chapter on Joshua's long day may be a bit complicated.
Among the questions and challenges discussed are: Did Jesus really live? Where did Cain get his wife? Does the Bible give a wrong value for pi? How could all the animals have fit on the ark? Has science proven that miracles are impossible? If God created everything, who created God? Has radiometric dating proven that the Earth is older than the Bible says? And many more.
Johansen has developed computer systems for manufacturing, marketing, medical, and military organizations. He has written articles for computer and science magazines and has published a book on database design. He has also contributed chapters to books on criminology, economics, and civil rights. He lives in Michigan with his daughter, his books, and his computers.
