KUALA LUMPUR, MALAYSIA, December 23, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- The Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra (MPO) will be holding a free recital next month entitled Eight Short Bachs.
Scheduled to take place at the group's Dewan Filharmonik Petronas home in Kuala Lumpur on January 16th 2011, the occasion will see the MPO perform all eight of the short preludes and fugues attributed to Johann Sebastian Bach.
Lovers of classical musical staying in Kuala Lumpur hotels at the time will also be treated to eight of German Sigfrid Karg-Elert's short interlude compositions - most of which last for less than one minute.
Commenting on the latter composer's talents, the organisers remarked: "He possessed a genius for creating atmosphere within the space of a few bars and that is certainly the case with these tiny miniatures."
In order to attend the show, prospective visitors must apply in advance for free tickets, which can then be picked up at the venue's box office.
Proceedings are due to kick off at 11:30 local time and run for 40 minutes, followed by a question and answer session with resident organist Dr Marc Rochester.
As well as hosting regular performances from the MPO, the Dewan Filharmonik Petronas has seen visits from the likes of the Vienna Symphony and New York Philharmonic.
