DUSSELDORF, GERMANY, January 06, 2011 /24-7PressRelease/ -- People with Dusseldorf hotel bookings can enjoy the classic story of The Phantom of the Opera if they head out in the city next month.
Since Gaston Leroux's novel of the same name was first published in France 100 years ago, the tale of a masked musical genius who lurks in the shadows beneath the Paris Opera House has captivated audiences around the world.
Andrew Lloyd-Webber's 1986 musical is arguably the most famous incarnation of the phantom on stage, but audience members in Dusseldorf will be treated to a new German version.
Due to take place at the city's Philipshalle concert hall on Wednesday February 2nd 2011, this original production from the Central Musical Company features music by Gerber Arndt and words by Paul Wilhelm.
According to the venue, it is "musically and visually a treat", with the 40-strong ensemble cast, renowned soloists and an accomplished orchestra all adding to the experience.
The Philipshalle has promised "a wonderful and exciting evening" for all who enter the mysterious world of the phantom.
Tickets are priced between EUR35.90 and EUR67.90 (GBP30.90 and GBP58.45), with the show due to begin at 20:00 local time.
Lloyd-Webber's Phantom of the Opera opened in London's West End in 1986 and has become one of the most successful musicals of all time, demonstrating the continued affection for the story among musical fans.
The production was adapted for the big screen by Hollywood director Joel Schumacher in 2004, with Gerard Butler in the title role.
