LONDON, ENGLAND, January 06, 2011 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Animation fans are in for a good year in 2011 as London's British Film Institute (BFI) is set to screen a series of films entitled the Disney 50, which includes every cartoon in the production company's history.
The movies will be put on every weekend throughout the year, with the flicks ordered chronologically, but the first title to be shown will be Disney's new adventure Tangled - an adaptation of the story of Rapunzel.
It tells the tale of a girl with 70 feet of magical hair who goes on a wild adventure with a bandit and a horse, with the directors adding a contemporary twist to proceedings.
Cinema enthusiasts may need to book a hotel in London on several different weekends during 2011 to catch their favourite films, with everything from 1937's Snow White and the Seven Dwarves to 2009's The Princess and the Frog due to be screened.
Among the highlights that may attract tourists to nearby accommodation such as The Bloomsbury Hotel London are The Lion King, The Jungle Book and Aladdin.
However, it may be that older titles from the 1940s like Dumbo, Pinocchio, Fantasia, Saludos Amigos and Make Mine Music prove to be more popular.
Tickets for the screenings cost between GBP5 and GBP8.60, with the films all being shown at the BFI's Southbank Theatre.
For more information on this event, visit the BFI website or contact the venue on 020 7928 3232.
