BERLIN, GERMANY, January 08, 2011 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Movie fans staying in Berlin hotels are in for a treat later this month, with the Britspotting festival due to run from January 21st to 30th.
This annual celebration of independent British and Irish films, now in its 11th year, will take place at the Babylon Mitte cinema and should appeal to viewers whose tastes lie outside the mainstream.
That does not mean there will be no big-budget features on show during the event, however, as the festival is due to open with a gala screening of Never Let Me Go.
Adapted from the bestselling novel by Kazuo Ishiguro, the movie stars Keira Knightley, Carey Mulligan and Andrew Garfield in a dystopian drama about the cloning of human beings.
Other movies on the programme for this year's Britspotting include Africa United, Chatroom, Four Lions, Skeletons, One Hundred Mornings and Lemmy, a new documentary about the iconic Motorhead frontman.
Cinema goers can also look forward to the screening of This Is England '86, an acclaimed four-part series shown in the UK by Channel 4 last year.
Directed by Shane Meadows, the drama follows the characters from his celebrated 2006 film This Is England against the backdrop of widespread unemployment and the excitement surrounding the 1986 World Cup in Mexico.
The series features young star Thomas Turgoose, who also appears in another of the films on the festival programme, The Scouting Book for Boys.
Admission prices will depend on the movie and show times will also vary, with the opening screening of Never Let Me Go due to due to begin at 20:00 local time.
