MADRID, SPAIN, January 13, 2011 /24-7PressRelease/ -- The work of Jose Val Del Omar is currently on display in Madrid and could give art enthusiasts something to think about during their holidays.
Running until February 28th 2011 at the Sabatini Building of the Museo Nacional Centro de Art Reina Sofia (MNCARS), the show will explore the creative output of a filmmaker who has achieved a cult following thanks to his experimental style and refusal to be pigeonholed.
Val Del Omar was a key figure in the history of Spanish film and this exhibition will allow guests at Madrid hotels to learn about his contribution to the national canon by separating his work into four sections.
The Pedagogical Missions will display items relating to his career during the second republic, while The Poetry of Technique focuses on the way spirituality met science in his technical writing.
"Val del Omar spent much of his time exploring technology related to the innovations in film in his time, as well as other fields including electro-acoustics, radio, television and the educational applications of audiovisual media," explained the venue.
Finally, The Elemental Triptych of Spain and The PLAT Laboratory investigate some of the artist's most famous works and his technological experimentation respectively.
Admission for this exhibition costs EUR3 (GBP2.50), or visitors can pay EUR6 and see the museum's whole collection.
Opening hours are from 10:00 to 21:00 local time from Mondays to Saturdays and between 10:00 and 14:30 on Sundays.
