PARIS, FRANCE, January 22, 2011 /24-7PressRelease/ -- A pair of concerts have been organised at the Musee d'Orsay in Paris that will include songs based on the poetry and literature that inspired the Pre-Raphaelites.
The two shows will take place on February 10th and June 16th 2011, with the first concert seeing baritone Simon Keenlyside accompanied by Malcolm Martineau on the piano and the second performance starring Christopher Maltman backed up by the Nash Ensemble.
According to the organisers, the work of John Keats, Lord Tennyson and Dante Gabriel Rossetti were said to have been a source of inspiration to the Pre-Raphaelite painters and this musical production uses the same starting point to create a fascinating show for attendees from hotels in Paris.
"This cycle of concerts evokes this influence, with some of the finest works of English literature being skilfully set to music," they added.
There will be a whole host of famous pieces used within the concert, including the work of Ned Rorum, William Blake, Walt Whitman, Benjamin Britten, Herbert Howells and Gustav Holst.
Both concerts start at 20:00 local time and will be held in the Auditorium Level - 2.
If attendees from nearby accommodation such as the Hotel Antin Trinite Paris want to see the museum's permanent collection of artwork, it will cost them EUR8 (GBP6.75), although there are combination passes available that give tourists a discount if they want to visit certain other cultural landmarks.
