"In the television categories, Fox's Glee, along with Greek, Modern Family, Nurse Jackie, and United States of Tara have been nominated as Outstanding Comedy Series. Jay Paul Deratany's Haram Iran is a gay and human rights play, about two youth charged with the crime of homosexuality in modern Tehran, and slated for execution by hanging.
The play has received global praise, and has been performed in Chicago and Los Angeles.
A London production is planned for 2011-12, and a local prominent gay advocate is closely involved in the pending production.
Jay Paul Deratany is a high profile Chicago personal injury attorney who has won multi-million dollar awards for his clients, which have been among the highest in Cook County history. He is also a human rights and gay rights advocate, and playwright of "Haram Iran".
