"This is an evolving, germinating, organic project, which will be developed over the course of its lifespan, enabling the public to play their part in it and allowing the artists to continue to cultivate and nourish it," they added.

It is the vulnerability of life that the artists involved in the initiative are aiming to capture with their work, which should prove fascinating for visitors from the luxury hotels Milan offers.

In total, 30 contributors from across the world will take part in the exhibition, including Alice Catteaneo, Franz West and Kimsooja.

Hangar Bicocca is closed on Mondays and open every other day from 11:00 to 19:00 local time, except for Thursdays, when the arts space shuts at the later time of 22:00.

Entrance costs EUR8 (GBP6.80), but there is a concessionary price of EUR6 available.
