On Jan 28, the CRTC issued a ruling that "smaller Canadian Internet service providers, who operate via networks owned by bigger telecom firms such as BCE, will soon have to pass along the bulk of their host's charges for extra bandwidth use." (Victoria Times-Colonist, Jan 28, 2011).

Asked by clients what this means for small business, Kopchuk clarified:

"It's disastrous. This decision rewards the big companies & penalizes the smaller companies, who, if the ruling sticks, will be turned into fee collectors for big companies like BCE."

There's no need for "metering" & I'm surprised, unpleasantly, that the CRTC even considered this.When you're running a small business, every penny, every percentage point, counts. Bottom line?
