PHUKET, THAILAND, February 16, 2011 /24-7PressRelease/ -- This yearly event is celebrated all over Australia to honour the Irish culture and to commemorate St Patrick - one of the patron saints of Ireland. Australia has an affinity for St Patrick's Day, as the Irish were some of the earliest immigrants to settle in the country.
On this day, many businesses will hold special St. Patrick's Day breakfasts or lunches. Restaurants and pubs all over Adelaide, especially those with an Irish theme, will have special programmes for the evening with Irish music, Irish food and Irish drinks.
There is also a street parade where people wear traditional Irish clothing. The Irish flag is usually on display. A number of Irish associations and historical societies will also present lectures and special events to teach people about the history of Irish immigrants in Australia.
"The St. Patrick's Day festival in Adelaide is a colourful and lively event, well worth to attend" said Lek Boonlert, Head of Marketing of DirectRooms.com.
Hotels in Adelaide come in all price ranges and to suit every taste. Many hotels have restaurants and some of these will no doubt feature a special St. Patrick's Day programme on the 17th of March.
Since this is a public event, there are no admission fees to be paid if you just want to view the street processions. Some of the restaurants do have a cover charge if they organise a special programme for the evening.
