CHICAGO, IL, February 27, 2011 /24-7PressRelease/ -- If the annual statistics report from the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) is any indicator, the United States is emerging from the economic recession one facelift, breast implant, and nose job at a time.
Cosmetic Surgical Procedures Rise for First Time in 2 Years
According to the agency's 2010 plastic surgery procedural statistics report, 13.1 million cosmetic procedures were performed last year, up 5 percent from 2009. The increase includes a 2 percent rise in cosmetic surgical procedures and a 5 percent gain in minimally invasive procedures.
Although minimally invasive procedures such as BOTOX injections, soft tissue fillers and chemical peels have remained steady amid the recession, surgical procedures rebounded after two years of overall downward-trending numbers.
