PHUKET, THAILAND, March 11, 2011 /24-7PressRelease/ -- The Isle of Wight Steam Railway offers people the chance to ride vintage locomotives from Victorian and Edwardian times and see the care that has gone into restoring these classical forms of transport. The railway is running a selection of routes that will travel around the island and stop at many quaint local stations along the way.
On 3rd April 2011 organisers have arranged a special trip for Mothering Sunday where mums will receive a bunch of locally grown spring flowers for free. Families can also head to the refreshment rooms to enjoy the hearty 'Engine Driver's Lunch' or sit down for a very traditional English afternoon tea.
Other attractions also include the museum which houses the history of the island's railway system including signal boxes and the nameplates from locomotives, some of which date back to 1876.
Visitors may find that due to the popularity of the day that hotels in Isle of Wight are going to be close to full occupancy with guests and mum's being treated to weekends away.
Lek Boonlert, marketing head at DirectRooms.com, commented: "Mother's Day is going to be a busy time for hotels as families head to the steam railway. To be sure of not being left disappointed people will need to book ahead."
