LONDON, ENGLAND, March 22, 2011 /24-7PressRelease/ -- The British Silent Film Festival kicks off in London in April and will provide entertaining and educational insight into the medium of cinema.
Running from April 4th to 7th at the Barbican Cinema, the programme includes talks by experts and screenings with live scores by musicians such as Neil Brand and Gunter Buchwald.
According to the organisers, this year's festival will explore how sounds are used in movies as part of centenary celebrations for the British newsreel.
One of the anticipated highlights of the occasion will be the world premiere of Morozko, a Russian production from 1924.
"The art of the silent film musician features strongly in our line-up, demonstrating how the language of film music developed and how musicians today take different approaches to accompaniment," a representative from the festival remarked.
Last year's edition of the event focused on science and nature.
Adult tickets for the activities cost between GBP8.50 and GBP10.50, but each event is individually priced.
The closest tube station to the Barbican is Moorgate, although the venue is also within walking distance of Liverpool Street and Barbican.
Cinema enthusiasts can find a huge number of London hotels at LateRooms.com, including city centre accommodation such as the Astor Court Hotel London.
