BARCELONA, SPAIN, March 24, 2011 /24-7PressRelease/ -- A new installation in Barcelona called Sonar uses sound waves in a highly peculiar manner.
Not to be confused with the music festival of the same name, the exhibition created by Michael Sailstorfer involves a film of an experiment carried out by the German artist.
The Berlin-based creator constructed a wooden room with one glass window and used sound to break the glass.
It is this unusual and compelling activity that people can witness at the Fundacio Joan Miro until April 25th 2011.
"Sonar is a very experimental work based on the challenge of turning a sound signal into a sculpture or, in other words, making the signal visible," a source from the arts space explained.
Visitors can also see A Microphone in My Mouth, which was created by Sailstorfer in 2006 and sees a human skull utilised as a sound box.
The exhibition is open from 10:00 to 19:00 local time from Tuesday to Saturday, except Thursday when it closes at 21:30. It is shut on Monday and open from 10:00 to 14:30 on Sunday.
Admission is EUR4 (GBP3.50) to enjoy Sonar, or EUR9 to view the whole gallery.
