PAGE, AZ, March 30, 2011 /24-7PressRelease/ -- April is a wonderful time for hiking and rafting in the Grand Canyon. The weather is ideal with average daytime highs in the mid-80s and nighttime lows in the mid-50s. The illustrious Grand Canyon flowers are in bloom during April. The incredible spring wildflower season only occurs in the Grand Canyon from March to early May, just in line with the Hiker's Special trip.
The Hiker's Special will include many different types of hiking opportunities in Grand Canyon. Hike up narrow slot canyons of beautiful sandstone, hike to the source of grand waterfalls where the water pumps right out of rocks, or hike along crystal clear creeks admiring the serene ecology.
There are three options within the Hiker's Special. Guests can choose the 11-day Full Canyon option for the granddaddy of experiences. If time is of the essence, guests can choose to do either the 5-day Upper Canyon trip with hike out or the 7-day Lower Canyon trip with hike in. The Full Canyon 11-day trip begins from historic Lees Ferry at Mile 0 and travels 225 miles to finish at Diamond Creek. The 5-day Upper Canyon trip rafts 87 miles from Lees Ferry to Phantom Ranch with a hike out of the Canyon via the Bright Angel Trail. The 7-day Lower Canyon trip begins with a hike in to the Canyon on the Bright Angel Trail to meet the guides, comrades and boats at Phantom Ranch, mile 87, and journey on to Diamond Creek.
The trip dates are:
- 11-day Full Canyon: April 9-19, 2012
- 5-day Upper Canyon April 9-13, 2012
- 7-day Lower Canyon April 13-19, 2012
The Hiker's Special trips are a great value in this, their inaugural season. Information can be found by calling 800-343-3121 or online at www.grandcanyonwhitewater.com.
