BILBAO, SPAIN, April 22, 2011 /24-7PressRelease/ -- A new exhibition entitled The Luminous Interval is about to launch at the Bilbao Guggenheim Museum, showcasing a fascinating selection of modern art.
Running from April 12th to September 11th 2011, the installation will feature work by key figures from the past few decades, including Martin Kippenberger, Annette Messager and Louise Bourgeois.
Younger artists such as Paul Chan and Wangechi Mutu will also be represented in the show, which is drawn from the D Daskalopoulos Collection.
On the venue's official website, the organisers explained: "The exhibition's title is derived from the writings of the Greek philosopher Nikos Kazantzakis (1883-1957), who envisioned life as a 'luminous interval' during which decomposition and decay are necessary prerequisites to creation and renewal."
About 60 pieces will be on display, with many of the items sprawling across whole rooms; a hallmark of Daskalopoulos artwork.
The show is open from 10:00 to 20:00 local time from Tuesday to Sunday, with tickets costing EUR13 (GBP11.50) and available online or at the box office. Concessions are available for young people and senior citizens.
