MANCHESTER, ENGLAND, April 23, 2011 /24-7PressRelease/ -- The classic fairytale Cinderella will be re-imagined in a production for the West Australian Ballet (WAB), which opens in Perth at the start of next month.
Following the death of her mother and her father's remarriage, the title character is forced to cope with the torment inflicted by her two evil stepsisters.
She remains kind-hearted and good thanks to memories of her mother. These traits eventually lead her to a magical garden packed with enchanted creatures, where hope and joy finally return to her life.
Soon after, she meets her Prince Charming and finds true love.
The show stars WAB leading artist Jayne Smeulders in her first full-length choreography for the organisation.
Costumes have been designed by the acclaimed Allan Lees, who previously worked on the spectacular 2010 production of Don Quixote.
Accompaniment comes from the West Australian Symphony Orchestra.
Cinderella opens at His Majesty's Theatre in Perth on May 6th 2011 and runs until May 21st. Evening performances start at either 18:30 or 19:30 local time depending on the date, with matinees scheduled for May 14th and 21st.
Ticket prices range from AU$20 to AU$104.
His Majesty's Theatre is included on the route of the free Central Area Transport RED CAT bus.
