MOUNTAIN HOUSE, CA, April 22, 2011 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Questa at Mountain House bills itself as a great place to settle in and put down roots. Its residents are showing us why Saturday, April 23, as they throw a party for Thia Megia, one of their own. Thia has just finished her "American Idol" run, with a ranking among the top 11 contestants this season.
Thia's ranking makes her future in music very promising and that future starts this summer with "American Idol's" nationwide tour. For now, a hometown welcome and some R & R are on her calendar.
Mountain House residents are kicking off the party at the West Valley Mall at 3200 Naglee Road in Tracy at 1:30 p.m. The welcoming ceremony segues to a police escort for the caravan to Mountain House's Central Avenue and a community party in Thia's honor.
The public is invited to both venues. The Mountain House festival is slated for 3 to 7:30 p.m. and highlighting it will be autographs and photo opportunities with Thia. Food vendors, face painting, a caricaturist, jumpy house and a live band will provide fun and entertainment for all ages.
"We are gathering to congratulate Thia on her amazing success as the youngest contestant in one of America's most challenging competitions," said Celeste Farron, Mountain House resident and event organizer. "We cannot begin to say how proud we are of our beautiful, talented Thia and how excited we are to see her now prepare for her American Idol tour!"
Thia Megia, 16, is the daughter of Mountain House residents Cynthia and Loreto Megia. Her poise and vocal artistry impressed "American Idol" judges and voters throughout the 9th season of the popular show, landing her among the top 11 who become part of the national tour.
Mountain House "Friends of Thia" will be joined Saturday by county and state officials, area media and by event co-sponsor Shea Homes, LLC, the developer of Mountain House. Adam Hieb, Vice President of Sales & Marketing for Shea Homes Northern California, said the celebration was "absolutely typical" of the Mountain House hometown spirit.
"Mountain House has the close knit feeling that reminds us all of the towns and cities of earlier times," Hieb said. "We expect a big turnout of families, friends and neighbors for this welcome party and we are delighted to share in the fun Saturday!"
