MELBOURNE, AUSTRALIA, April 30, 2011 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Andrew Lloyd Webber's new musical Love Never Dies will have its Australian premiere when it opens in Melbourne at the end of next month.
The show continues the story of The Phantom of the Opera, which has been seen by more than 100 million people worldwide and took over $5 billion (AU$4.6 billion) at the box office.
It is set in 1907, ten years after the Phantom's disappearance from the Paris Opera House. In that time, he has established a life at New York's Coney Island theme park, but he still misses Christine Daae, his love from the original production.
Tim McFarlane, Lloyd Webber's representative in the Asia-Pacific region, has produced the Australian version of the musical and promised to give it a unique feel especially for audiences down under.
In a statement, he said: "Those who saw Phantom and loved the show will be excited to see how the story continues and all those who appreciate music theatre will be thrilled by Love Never Dies."
The production will open at Melbourne's Regent Theatre on May 21st 2011 and run until August 7th.
Seats cost from AU$95 for adults and AU$60 for concessions.
