PHUKET, THAILAND, May 06, 2011 /24-7PressRelease/ -- The regional event is part of Asian Rugby Football Union's (ARFU) main competition which has four tiers of games consisting of teams from 25 Asian countries. The top four divisions teams can either be promoted or relegated depending on their performance but no teams are relegated from tier five.
Laos are the reigning champions of the division having won two years in a row beating Brunei 23-5 and Cambodia 12-3 in 2010 and this year they'll be looking to continue the momentum. Brunei however will be sticking to the fact that they don't field any foreign players to see them through as there was some controversy last year in that a number of Laos' points came from an English born player.
Although the lowest tier of the Asian tournament the rivalling between the three teams is always competitive which makes the rugby more intense and the organisers are working on a strategy to allow the winning team to gain promotion into the upper leagues.
People staying at hotels in Bandar Seri Begawan can go to cheer on the home side from 21st to 27th June 2011 at the city's Belapan stadium.
Lek Boonlert, marketing head at DirectRooms.com commented: "As the region's biggest rugby fixture, rugby fans will be attending from around the country and this will impact hotels who are set to be short on availability."
