The International Federation of Film Producers Associations-accredited Shanghai International Film Festival (SIFF) was established in 1993 and is designed to promote the development of the country's movie-making industry.
It includes four main programmes - competition, SIFF Mart, SIFFORUM and the International Film Panorama (IFP).
The first of these features the Golden Goblet Award, chosen by a jury comprising seven film celebrities from around the world. Barry Levinson, the director of Rain Man, has been lined up to lead the selection panel at the 2011 festival.
Previous jury-members include John Woo, Danny Boyle and Luc Besson.
A selection of Levinson's works will be screened in the Tribute to Masters section.
