PHUKET, THAILAND, May 10, 2011 /24-7PressRelease/ -- The festivities are part of Seurasaari Midsummer Bonfires where the main spectacle is a massive bonfire that is made on a platform floating on the water and large crowds gather to watch as a new bride and groom get the honour of lighting the fire. A series of smaller fires are then lit all along the shore and people also bring their boats which line the coast as people watch from the water.
The bonfires are lit from 21:00 with the main fire set ablaze from 22:00 but in the early evening the area comes alive with music and folk dancing. Visitors can join in with the dances and have a go at learning the various steps while being led by the Helsinkians. Other attractions include the log floating, craftsmen selling locally made products and people can also receive Midsummer styling tips on ways to decorate their home with traditional seasonal decorations.
Anyone using hotels in Helsinki Airport and wanting to attend can find all the activities running between 24th and 25th June 2011 and entry is EUR15 for adults and free for the under 12s.
Lek Boonlert, marketing head at DirectRooms.com, commented: "Hotels will be quickly booking up for the festival and reservations should be made in plenty of time. Rates can rise so visitors should compare prices online."
