SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA, May 10, 2011 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Sydney Film Festival (SFF), one of the longest running events of its kind in the world, is set to return to the New South Wales capital next month.
The annual movie showcase was first held in 1954 in four halls at the University of Sydney and has now grown into a two-week affair that attracts huge amounts of local and international interest.
Just 1,200 tickets were available for the original SFF, with the sell-out audiences treated to screenings of Buster Keaton's The General, Jacques Tati's Jour de Fete and more.
Highlights of this year's bill include Senna, a documentary on the life of legendary Formula One driver and Brazilian sporting hero Ayrton.
Among the other motion pictures on the line-up is John Michael McDonagh's odd-couple comedy The Guard, which receives its Australian premiere at the event.
The festival runs from June 18th to 19th 2011 at various venues across the city, including the State Theatre, Dendy Opera Quays and Event Cinemas George Street.
Flexible passes allowing entry to ten, 20 or 30 films are priced at AU$137, AU$255 and AU$347 respectively.
