LAS VEGAS, NV, May 11, 2011 /24-7PressRelease/ -- In a market that once led the nation in growth and now leads in foreclosures, a few intrepid home builders including Pardee Homes of Nevada have joined forces and lowered their scale to create pet houses to benefit the city's homeless families through HomeAid Southern Nevada.

In a one-of-a-kind fundraiser, nine pet houses are on display through June 4 at Town Square Park at Town Square, a retail destination on the famous Las Vegas Strip. The houses, built and donated by industry leaders including Pulte Homes, KB Home, Pardee Homes, Martin-Harris Construction Company and Fusion Sign & Design, will be raffled (tickets are $5 each) and auctioned to raise funds for HomeAid, an organization dedicated to building and maintaining dignified housing that allows the homeless the opportunity to rebuild their lives.
In conjunction with the event, Project Playhouse: Pet Edition will feature pet adoptions, including a special adoption day on May 22 for Foreclosed Upon Pets, Inc. (FUPI) who have been left behind by their families.
"Las Vegas builders have been hit harder than almost any other industry and they have stepped up, not only helping the temporarily homeless, but also helping to find homes for abandoned pets, who are also victims of our distressed economy," said Kathleen Dye, executive director of HomeAid Southern Nevada.
"This project has been a real morale builder for everyone involved," said Klif Andrews, Southern Nevada Chapter president of HomeAid and Southern Nevada president of Pardee Homes. "As supporters of HomeAid locally and nationally for many years, we couldn't be more proud of the support this year's project has received."
Not your traditional dog houses, designs include a tiki hut, fire house, fire hydrant, green house with solar panels, UFC or "Ultimate Fetching Challenge" and "Pirates of the Canine-bean" themes.
The event wraps up with a VIP celebration and live auction June 3, followed by the raffle drawing on June 4.
