    PARIS, FRANCE, May 11, 2011 /24-7PressRelease/ -- A Ballad of Life and Death is a collection of photographs on display at Paris's Musee d'Orsay that explores the inner workings of Pre-Raphaelite pictures captured in Britain.

The exhibition is on show until May 29th 2011 and seeks to share how the great photographers of the Victorian age between 1848 and 1875 had a lot in common with the painters of their day.

According to the venue, both sets of artists found inspiration in works by authors such as Lord Alfred Tennyson, William Shakespeare and Dante.

In a statement on the official website, a representative explained: "In the second half of the 19th century, during the heyday of Victorian England, the aesthetic principles of the Pre-Raphaelite painters were frequently echoed by the photographers of the time who aspired to be recognised as artists."

The Pre-Raphaelite movement is argued by some to be the first example of avant-garde art.

Admission to the Musee d'Orsay costs EUR8 (GBP7.10). The facility is open from 09:30 to 18:00 local time every day, except Thursday when it closes at 21:45 and Monday when it is shut all day.
