PEMBROKESHIRE, WALES, May 11, 2011 /24-7PressRelease/ -- The Torch Theatre in Pembrokeshire is due to stage Alan M Kent's play Surfing Tommies next month.
Directed by John Hoggarth, the drama follows the exploits of three men amid the horrors of the first world war and explores the aftermath of the conflict.
Cornish playwright Kent traces the central trio's journey from the North Wheal Leisure tin mine to the trenches, as well as explaining how surfing arrived in the south-west of England via the Western Front.
It has been described by publisher Francis Boutle as "a poignant tale of war and friendship, but ultimately one of redemption, forgiveness and hope".
The drama is also said to comment on current world issues, despite being set in the early 20th century.
Surfing Tommies will be performed at the Milford Haven theatre on Thursday June 9th, with the play due to begin at 19:30 BST.
The Torch Theatre event comes courtesy of BishBashBosh Productions and Iron Shoes. It will take place in the venue's Studio Theatre, with tickets priced at GBP10.
