Emanuel S. Kardon Series: Philadelphia Chamber Music Society

Various Philadelphia and international chamber music groups will perform as part of the 2011/2012 Emanual S. Kardon Chamber Music Series for the Philadelphia Chamber Music Society.



    PHILADELPHIA, PA, May 12, 2011 /24-7PressRelease/ -- The Philadelphia Chamber Music Society (PCMS) is pleased to announce the 2011/2012 Emanuel S. Kardon Chamber Music Series featuring exceptional ensembles from home and abroad, including three Philadelphia premieres.

The Ysaye Quartet returns from Paris to perform works by Beethoven, Schubert and Brahms. The renowned Tokyo Quartet will return for a second time this season to present a concert of Haydn, Bartok and Dvorak. Leading period-instrument ensemble from Austria, Quatuor Mosaiques, will reappear at the Perelman Theater with works by Haydn, Mozart and Beethoven.

Popular Brentano Quartet will join Ignat Solzhenitsyn, one of today's most gifted artists, for a program of Haydn, Ginastera and Beethoven. One of the great chamber music groups of our time, the Johannes Quartet, will perform Weber's Clarinet Quintet in B-flat Major, Op. 34 with Philadelphia Orchestra's principle clarinetist, Ricardo Morales. They will perform works by Schumann and Respighi. Marlboro tours II and III will showcase musical talent from the summer festival in Vermont. Work from Mozart to Brahms to Bartok will be given life by these rising stars in chamber music.

The remarkable St. Lawrence Quartet returns to the Perelman Theater with a varied program of Haydn, Golijov and Schubert. Violist Michael Tree and double bassist Harold Robinson will appear as guest artists with the Kalichstein-Laredo-Robinson Trio to perform Beethoven, Zwilich and Schubert.  After a sold-out concert last year, the Takacs Quartet will delight audiences with works by Janacek, Britten and Ravel. The Juilliard Quartet will appear with violinists Hiroko Yajima and John Dalley, violist Hsin-Yun Huang and cellist Peter Wiley for Mendelssohn's Octete in E-flat Major; Op. 20, Haydn and Martino.

The Kardon Chamber Music Series will be held at the intimate Perlman Theater at the American Philosophical Society. Local food and drinks will be available through selected suppliers.
