Contour have just announced the release of their latest product, the Contour+ camera. The Contour+ builds on the popular Contour GPS model with added connectivity and refined features and has been designed with the broadcast and pro-sumer market in mind.

Contour cameras are renowned for their ease of use thanks to the large sliding start/stop switch on top of the camera and their unique rotating front lens. As with other Contour cameras, the Contour+ records on to microSD cards and runs on a rechargeable Li-Ion battery. The new features in the Contour+ will allows users to:

Expand Field of Vision
A new six-element glass lens delivers full 1080p HD video with field of view increased to 170 degrees for improved clarity and smoother action videos. Fully automatic settings can be used as well as adjustable white balance, sharpness and exposure settings for shooting in tough lighting conditions.

Deliver Live Action
Users can stream live HD video via the new HDMI output. Playback to a TV direct from the camera will also be possible with a firmware upgrade due in Q2 2011.

Use Industry Leading Connectivity
The Contour+ can connect to smartphones via Bluetooth, creating a wireless viewfinder for the camera. Camera settings can also be adjusted via the Bluetooth connection.

Capture Crisp Audio
Audio can be recorded using either the onboard microphone or an external microphone with the new 2.5mm microphone jack.

Track Location, Speed and Elevation
The Contour+ has an inbuilt GPS receiver that records location, speed and elevation. Using the Contour Storyteller application users can watch their videos and GPS data on a map and graph overlay to add extra depth to their point of view videos.

Benefit From Other Upgrades
Contour have refined certain features on the Contour+, such as making the front lens cover flush mounted to minimize debris build up and increasing the range of rotation of the front lens to allow the camera to be used upside down.

Price and Availability
In Australia the Contour+ will be available for AU$699.
In Canada the Contour+ will be available for CA$499.
In USA the Contour+ will be available for US$499.

The Contour+ will be available from all Launch stores from approximately late May or early June 2011.
