WOODSTOCK, NY, May 25, 2011 /24-7PressRelease/ -- This Memorial Day Weekend at the Ulster County fairgrounds, there will be a vast assortment of unique handcrafted demonstrations and specialty craftworks highlighting the Woodstock-New Paltz Art & Crafts Fair. Techniques such as boat making, oil, portrait and sign painting, jewelry making, woodturning, etchings, iron working and much more will be demonstrated through the holiday weekend. There will be a variety of food, live music and events for children held in multiple tents throughout the fairgrounds and event.
The Woodstock-New Paltz Art & Crafts Fair is one of the largest of its kind held in the US. It is known for its high quality juried art and craft work with many exhibitors traveling throughout the nation to exhibit. "Great care is taken in how the artists are grouped to create the most interesting combinations of work," organizer of the event Neil Rubinstein said.
In addition to the demonstrations, there will also be a wide range of the best regionally-based musicians performing throughout the weekend, including The Judith Tulloch Band (adult contemporary, acoustic), Woodstock-based Finley & Pagdon (contemporary Americana), Out of the Bluegrass (acoustic), Blond & Blue (electric eclectic), Erin Hobson Compact (electric jazz), All-She-Wrote (three-part harmonies) and Vito Petroccitto's hilarious storytelling and song parodies.
This event is host to a wide variety of locally produced and "handcrafted" specialty foods and health care products along with the very best in New York State wines. The fair will also feature face painting and other supervised children's activities and a seasonal feature of landscape arts.
Scott Rubinstein and his brother Neil are co-directors of Quail Hollow Events -- the sponsors of the Arts & Crafts Fair since its inception 30 years ago. They attribute the lasting success to the high quality of work presented at the event. "There are 250 independently juried fine artists and craftspeople. We are especially proud of the many artisans that have been with us since the shows inception," said Scott.
To commemorate the 30 year anniversary, a specially designed T-shirt has been created and will be available for sale at the fair. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to a flood relief charity.
The Fair takes place Saturday, May 28, 10am-6pm, Sunday, May 29, 10am-6pm and Monday, May 30, 10am-4pm at the Ulster County Fairground, 249 Libertyville Road, New Paltz, NY 12561, NYS Thruway Exit 18. Admission price is Adults, $8.00, Seniors, $7.00 and Children 12 & under Free.
