ROCKVILLE, MD, May 25, 2011 /24-7PressRelease/ -- History Associates, the leading historical research firm in the United States, is celebrating the opening of a special temporary exhibition at the Fort Worth Museum of Science and History. Ascent ... When Dreams Defy Gravity provides a sneak preview of the new Fort Worth Air and Space Museum, slated to open in 2016.
History Associates is providing historical consulting services for the project, which is orchestrated by the Texas-based Fort Worth Air & Space Museum Foundation. The exhibition traces the aviation history of North Texas, showcases the advances in aerospace technology happening today, and even challenges visitors to design and test their very own flying machines.
"We are working closely with the development team and the foundation to tell the story of how North Texas became a center for aerospace science and engineering," said Dr. James H. Lide, vice president at History Associates and lead historian on the project. "It's exciting to see how the region's rich aviation history can be conveyed in such a powerful and compelling way so it becomes an entertaining as well as educational experience."
"Our mission is to develop a world-class air and space museum that promotes education in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics, and STEM careers in aerospace," said Jeff Johns, executive director of the museum foundation. "To accomplish this, we wanted to create a new kind of museum that instills a sense of excitement and fun for all visitors. I'm thrilled to have assembled such talented historical consulting and exhibit design professionals to make this dream a reality."
History Associates is working in collaboration with an award-winning team of museum developers including Gallagher & Associates, a preeminent exhibit design firm, Design & Production Inc., one of the nation's leading exhibit fabricators, and Cortina Productions, a leading multimedia firm.
The 8,500 square foot temporary exhibition will be open from May 28 through September 5 at the Fort Worth Museum of Science and History.
