Belgian Design Houses Bring the "Art De Vivre" to Boston

Belgian designers Laetitia Low and Paul Delaisse will be launching their warm modern upholstery and clean lined hardwood furniture collections on June 16th at the Belgian Design Event hosted by Lekker Home in Boston, MA.

BOSTON, MA, May 31, 2011 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Belgian design houses Marie's Corner, refined modern upholstery tailored to the sophisticated home and Central Station, clean lined handcrafted hardwood and hammered steel furniture will be launching their collections at the Belgian Design Event hosted at Lekker Home's flagship store in Boston, Massachusetts.

With subtle French and Dutch inspiration, Belgium has developed a unique signature of its own and has become a global beacon of art, high fashion, architecture and interior design. Hailing from Brussels and Antwerp respectively, Marie's Corner and Central Station both exercise their Belgian influences and demonstrate their affinity for the "art de vivre" (art of living).

"Marie's Corner partnering with Central Station was a natural fit for our design concept," says Laetitia Low, Founder and Principal Designer of Marie's Corner. "Our Belgian roots come out in our designs and subsequently are very complementary of one another." Furthering this model, Paul Delaisse, Central Station's Founder and Principal Designer shares, "Our collaboration with Lekker Home in Boston is ideal given their commitment to the brands, our synergistic design aesthetic and our like-minded focus on home decor as a lifestyle experience."

Lekker Home is offering the complete Central Station and Marie's Corner collections. Central Station's Signature Line offers chairs, beds and custom dining, coffee and side tables that are built in North Carolina to customer's specifications. These custom built products are made of solid and hand selected hardwoods. Central Station also offers their Basic Line which is produced in standard sizes for quick delivery. The line is made from Solid Reclaimed Teak and young saplings using a cross lamination process which minimizes wood movement. This ecological product is stocked and ready to ship nationwide. Marie's Corner offers a complete line of sofas, armchairs, chairs, poufs, tables and accessories. All pieces are handcrafted using artisanal furniture-making techniques with the finest materials. Each piece is manufactured using solid hardwood frames which are screwed, glued, and dowelled for a lifetime of enjoyment. In addition to accommodating customer's own material (COM), Marie's Corner has an extensive fabric collection that hails from Italy and textile industry leader Belgium.

"We are very excited to be working with Marie's Corner and Central Station," says Natalie van Dijk Carpenter, founder of Lekker Home and a native of Amsterdam, Holland. "Belgian and Dutch design have many confluences of inspiration and their collections reminds me of home." Natalie adds, "Their design is clean, organic but with a contemporary edge; it's what I call 'warm modern' - a perfect complement to our design portfolio."

The Belgian Design Event will take place on Thursday, June 16 from 6:00PM to 9:00PM at Lekker Home, 1317 Washington Street in Boston's South End. Miss Low and Mr. Delaisse will be available for questions and scheduled interviews during this period. RSVP at [email protected]

About Marie's Corner
Marie's Corner (www.mariescorner.com), the leading Belgian high end upholstery brand was founded in the early Nineties by designer Laetitia Low, who entered the seating market with handcrafted furniture. Since its start, the company has focused on the design and manufacturing of handmade seating characterized by its clean design, comfort, quality and craftsmanship.
In collaboration with Laetitia's husband Alain Low, Marie's Corner expanded internationally and broadened their focus from private installations to retail accessibility and commercial projects including collaborations with celebrated interior designers and global architectural firms.

Despite international acclaim Marie's Corner has never lost sight of what made them successful; the design and manufacturing of handcrafted furniture that is custom tailored to its clients. Recently, the business expanded its global activities into the US market with local production facilities in North Carolina.

About Central Station
Central Station (www.centralstationinteriors.com and www.csbasicsinc.com) founded by Antwerp, Belgium native Paul Delaisse initiated his design career around nature and the ideas surrounding "green design". Receiving his Master of Arts Degree from Belgium's Royal Academy of Arts, Delaisse has dreamed, designed, and accomplished exquisite masterpieces. With his private pieces of various media circulating galleries in Europe and in High Point, NC, Delaisse's clear understanding of nature obviously provides him a source of inspiration. Often calling on reclaimed teak as his medium of choice, Delaisse's work demonstrates his ability to morph form, function, and natural materials to achieve an organically elegant element of design. Recently, at the International Home Furnishings Market, Delaisse's collections made themselves available not only to designers expecting high-end, high-quality pieces, but also to the general consumer. By continually exploring elements of "green design", Central Station confidently offers a fresh look to seemingly everyday pieces by implementing organic materials and presenting them in a beautiful manner. Proudly made in the USA.
