PHUKET, THAILAND, June 02, 2011 /24-7PressRelease/ -- The mixture of disciplines is the challenge being laid down by The Koh Samui Trophy 2011. Competitors must enter as a team of two and can choose either the Extreme or Adventure races.
Adventure racing is as the name suggests, certainly an adventure as teams will be negotiating the courses, overcoming obstacles and trying to complete the distance in the fastest possible time. For those with the stamina and who fancy themselves as contenders the Extreme event provides a considerable challenge.
Athletes will be expected to cycle through the mountains for 45km, then jump into the sea to swim 1000m, and afterwards paddle in a kayak for 10km. The last section is through the jungle for 15km while avoiding any of the reptiles that might be lurking in the bushes.
Newcomers can alternatively try the Adventure course, which is slightly shorter, still demanding, but a great event for anyone looking to get into the sport. Spectators are being encouraged to cheer on the teams and people are even expected to visit while staying at an Ao Nang hotel in nearby Krabi.
Lek Boonlert, marketing head at DirectRooms.com, commented: "Finding hotel accommodation is set to be more problematic with the contestants, media and everyone else coming along to watch. By booking online this can make the arrangements simpler and people will benefit from online discounts."
