PHUKET, THAILAND, June 04, 2011 /24-7PressRelease/ -- For six days between 17th and 22nd July 2011, the 8th European Universities Beach Volleyball Championship will see the best players on the continent competing for the prestigious title. This will be the eighth edition of the contest and some of the countries taking part include Russia, Great Britain, France, Poland, Germany and host nation Spain.
Universities from each country will be sending out their top pairs in the female and male divisions and around 32 teams in each category are due to take part. The format for the matches will comprise three sets and each match is expected to take around an hour.
The regulations follow those of official beach volleyball as set by the European Volleyball Federation (CEV) and the games will be contested on standard sand courts measuring 16 x 8m. Spectators can see the matches as they're divided over four courts, two courts each for the female and male competitors and these will be within the grounds of Malaga University.
The championships are to be divided into two stages, with the initial group stage determined by teams seeded by CEV and other regulatory bodies FIVB and EUSA.
Lek Boonlert, marketing head at DirectRooms.com, commented: "As the athletes arrive in the city the probability of finding a Malaga hotel will be reduced as this is already an extremely busy time of the year."
