PHUKET, THAILAND, June 09, 2011 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Events begin with a Ukulele Showcase on the 1st July and will include a 'Build Your Own Ukulele' course, performances, workshops, and an attempt to break the world record for the highest number of ukuleles gathered in one place.
Ukulele players and performers will be travelling to Cairns from all over Australia and the rest of the world for this unique festival.
Confirmed performers include performer and songwriter Renee Searles, Brittni Paiva and Victoria Vox. Tickets went on sale in March and April and are still available via the festival website. The evenings of 1st July and 2nd July are free of charge. Tickets to individual events can be bought in advance, and will cost more at the door. Tickets were sold out last year so it is advisable to organise tickets (as well as accommodation) in advance.
Cairns is a small town and festival participants in need of Palm Cove hotels are strongly advised to book their accommodation early in order to avoid difficulty. The town and its surrounding area are very picturesque, and many festivalgoers like to stay a few days on either side of the festival. Most events will be held centrally, except for those held at the Tanks Art Centre, which is four kilometres outside the city centre and will be hosting several major performances and workshops during the festival.
Further information on the festival can be obtained by contacting the organisers.
