SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA, June 15, 2011 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Australia will face off against South Africa in Sydney next month in the opening match of the 2011 Tri Nations.
The Wallabies are set to take on the current world champions at ANZ Stadium on July 23rd, just a month and a half before the start of the Rugby World Cup in New Zealand.
Both sides will feel they have a point to prove after winning just three games between them in last year's Tri Nations.
New Zealand were the runaway champions in the 2010 series, coming out on top in all of their six games and scoring an average of more than 30 points in each match.
Australia also endured a tough trip to the northern hemisphere last November.
Despite beating Wales and France, they were overpowered 35-18 by bitter rivals England and slumped to a 15-6 defeat at the hands of Irish province Munster.
South Africa will be keen to avenge their dramatic loss in last year's Tri Nations match with Australia, in which Kurtley Beale slotted a 50-metre penalty in the dying minutes to give the Wallabies their first victory on the Highveld in 47 years.
Ticket prices for the fixture start at AU$59.
