SINGAPORE, June 17, 2011 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Singapore's Esplanade will host two performances of Snails and Ketchup, a story inspired by Italo Calvino's Baron in the Trees.
Created and performed by Ramesh Meyyappan, the production on July 22nd and 23rd combines the star's incredible physicality with his imaginative method of delivery.
The story sees Meyyappan take on four different roles and includes sections where he is suspended in the air with ropes, with special effects used to suspend the disbelief of the audience.
In a statement, the venue explained: "Snails and Ketchup is the darkly comic tale of a dysfunctional family, following a disillusioned son who takes to the trees to live an arboreal existence in disgust at his ever changing brutal home environment."
Calvino's original story was written in 1957 and was the author's best-selling work. It is the second part in a trilogy, sandwiched between The Cloven Viscount and The Nonexistent Knight.
Tickets cost S$25 (GBP12.40) and the performance begins at 20:00 local time on both dates.
The show lasts about one hour and does not feature an interval.
Audience members will be able to enjoy a short question and answer session with the artist at the end.
