ADELAIDE, AUSTRALIA, June 22, 2011 /24-7PressRelease/ -- The worlds of classical music and Spaghetti Western movies are set to meet in a new production that opens in Adelaide next month.
Entitled Opera Goes West, the show offers a unique take on theatre staples such as Samuel Barber's A Hand of Bridge, Jacques Offenbach's Two Blind Beggars and Blue Monday by George Gershwin.
It has been created by emerging South Australian company No Tenors Allowed, which won acclaim for their debut effort The Double Bill: Cox and Box and The Telephone at last year's Adelaide Festival.
Ian Andrew, a nominee for best emerging performer at the Adelaide Critic Circle awards, will star in Opera Goes West alongside up-and-coming baritone Spencer Day and mezzosoprano Bethany Ide.
The production is due to open at the Adelaide College of the Arts X Space venue on Wednesday July 6th and will run until Wednesday July 20th.
Evening performances will kick off at 19:00 local time, while matinees on Sunday July 10th and Sunday July 17th are due to start at 17:00.
Full-price tickets cost AU$22, while concessions can get in for AU$18.
