Delightful children book,"First Star" is named for the custom of waiting until the first star appears in the night sky before beginning the celebration of Christmas Eve, or "Wigilia."



    /24-7PressRelease/ - WESTON, CT, December 24, 2006 - The book celebrates and brings to the light some of the special Polish, Slovak and Luthuanian traditions of Christmas. Told from the child's point of view, it explains the meaning behind the traditions. Grandmother,or "Babcia" explains that an extra place is set at the dinner table in case an unexpected hungry wonderer should come. Many times in the past the hungry joined in. Then there is the charming ceremony of family members sharing their Oplatek (a special bread) with each other while exchanging good wishes. Both Polish and American heros and heroines can be found decorating the pages.
